I must be in a cynical mood today, because I can see Donald Trump noisily announcing Phase 1 of “The Greatest and Biggest Deal Ever!” and then announcing a few days later that those dirty, cheating Chinese types did something so unforgivable—like asking politely for the unjustifiable tariffs on Chinese exports to be reduced—that the administration had to apply yet more tariffs to yet more Chinese goods.
