Report: GOP Rep. Was Literally Directed by Russia

According to documents reviewed by The Daily Beast, Representative Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) was quite literally directed by Moscow to discredit supporters of the Magnitsky Act, the legislation that places sanctions on Russian officials responsible for the death of Russian attorney Sergei Magnitsky.

Rohrabacher, the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Europe, was reportedly planning to smear former investor and anti-Putin lobbyist Bill Browder (Magnitsky was his attorney) during a committee hearing using material supplied to him by the Russians including a "feature-length pro-Kremlin propaganda movie."

An email reviewed by The Daily Beast shows that before that June 14 hearing, Rohrabacher’s staff received pro-Kremlin briefings against Browder, once Russia’s biggest foreign investor, and his tax attorney Sergei Magnitsky from a lawyer who was working with [Natalia] Veselnitskaya.

Although House Foreign Affairs Committee chairman Ed Royce (R-CA) had prohibited Rohrabacher from showing the Russian propaganda film in Congress, Rohrabacher’s Capitol Hill office still actively promoted a screening of the movie that was held at the Newseum in Washington, D.C., on June 13, 2016. Veselnitskaya was one of those handling the movie’s worldwide promotion.

The name Veselnitskaya may sound familiar because she also arranged the meeting with Donald Trump Jr, Paul Manafort, and Jared Kushner at Trump Tower where the young Trump solicited dirt on Hillary Clinton.

I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure she's a spy.

No one should be under the impression that Rep. Rohrabacher was somehow deceived or tricked into doing this. He is a self-made Russian stooge who has openly fantasized about Putin's muscles.

Dana Rohrabacher is weird. He started out as an anarchist, shifted to libertarianism, then to Republicanism, then seems to have decided authoritarianism was the way to go and started looking for a strongman to swear fealty to. For the past two decades or so, that’s been Vladimir Putin.

That Rohrabacher would defame supporters of the Magnitsky Act comes as no surprise; the only surprise is the Kremlin thought he needed to be nudged to do so.

(Also, if you still doubt Rohrabacher is weird, check out the OC Weekly‘s archives on the man.)

Dana Rohrabacher’s mouth is, along with Drumph’s, another one of Putin’s cock holsters.

Well, so — Kevin McCarthy says, “There’s two people I think Putin pays: Rohrabacher and Trump,” and it looks like he was spot on about Rohrabacher. Whaddaya bet he’s spot on about Trump as well?

    From Politico: 1/15:
“This marked the precise moment that Representative Dana Rohrabacher first fell for Vladimir Putin.
Roughly 20 years later, the California Republican still goes a
little gooey over Russia’s strongman president. Rohrabacher, who chairs
the House Foreign Affairs subcommittee on Europe, Eurasia and emerging
threats, has navigated a remarkable arc from self-professed “ ultimate cold warrior” to friend of the new, and increasingly grumpy, Russian bear.”

    ick.

This is just disgusting. The GOP has been infiltrated by Russian money and influence in the exact way that conservatives fear mongered during the “Red Scare” and the truth is I in no way expect outrage or even concern from the Party Of Reagan.™

    Just disgusting.
