Report: Roy Moore’s Campaign Lies About Support From Pastors

Written by SK Ashby

After former Alabama chief justice and current Senate GOP candidate Roy Moore was credibly accused stalking and molesting teen girls, Moore's wife released a letter that purportedly showed that over 50 local pastors still support his campaign.

It's a lie.

According to AL.com, the letter was actually signed several months ago before Moore even became the GOP candidate. Moore's wife republished the letter after removing the first three paragraphs to make it appear different.

After the letter was published on AL.com, Tijuanna Adetunji of the Fresh Anointing House of Worship in Montgomery, said she was not contacted about the letter and did not give permission for her name to be used.

"I was not asked about this story or allegations," Adetunji said.

The letter appears to be a version of one already posted on Moore's campaign website. That letter, posted prior to the primary, contains all the same wording as below but with three extra paragraphs at the top, including a sentence referencing the Aug. 15 vote.

I am not a religious scholar but I am absolutely certain the Ten Commandments says something about not bearing false witness against your neighbors. In other words, don't lie to them or about them.

Moore fought (and lost) a years-long battle to display the Ten Commandments at the Alabama Judicial Building in Montgomery.

Moore was a racist and a bigot before we learned that he's also a sexual predator so this doesn't exactly let pastors who already supported him off the hook.
