We already knew EPA administrator and industry lobbyist Scott Pruitt has a private security detail, just as many officials do, but Pruitt as reportedly tripled the number of agents assigned to him.
The Washington Post reported this morning that Pruitt now has a team of 18 men protecting him at all times, so many men that they've been pulled from their regular duties to protect Pruitt from the Boogeyman.
Scott Pruitt’s round-the-clock personal security detail, which demands triple the manpower of his predecessors at the Environmental Protection Agency, has prompted officials to rotate in special agents from around the country who otherwise would be investigating environmental crimes.
The EPA’s Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance has summoned agents from various cities to serve two-week stints helping guard Pruitt in recent months. And while hiring in many departments is frozen, the agency has sought an exception to hire additional full-time staff to protect Pruitt.
I don't care how many threats Pruitt has received. This is absurd.
It was also reported earlier this year that Pruitt has effectively sealed off an entire floor at the EPA where no one is allowed to enter without an escort. Pruitt is also known to leave his own office and use phones in other offices to avoid snooping, or something.
No one who is innocent should be this secretive or paranoid. He is almost certainly doing something illegal in private, or multiple somethings.
