Report: Trump Doesn’t Read His Intelligence Briefings

Written by SK Ashby

We already knew that intelligence officials have augmented their intelligence briefings with pictures in an attempt to get Trump to pay attention, but the Washington Post reports that several months after he began receiving a daily briefing he swore off reading any piece of paper placed in front of him.

Moreover, Trump reportedly sneers at the officials responsible for delivering his daily briefing.

Trump has opted to rely on an oral briefing of select intelligence issues in the Oval Office rather than getting the full written document delivered to review separately each day, according to three people familiar with his briefings.

Reading the traditionally dense intelligence book is not Trump’s preferred “style of learning,” according to a person with knowledge of the situation. [...]

Another person familiar with the briefing process said that, at times, Trump has been dismissive of his briefers. He has shaken his head, frowned and complained that the briefers were “talking down to him,” this person said.

The Daily Beast reported yesterday that Trump often sneered at Staff Secretary Rob Porter because he was responsible for bringing him papers to sign.

That report seemed almost too cliche to be true, but this is a second report from a different source that tells us a very similar story.

In any case, I believe we know what Trump's preferred "style of learning" is. He spends several hours watching Fox & Friends every morning during "executive time" and an hour watching Sean Hannity every night. That is his intelligence briefing.
