Republicans continue to hate the troops

The Republicans in Congress are opposing the exemption of veterans from their horrible bankruptcy bill. Of course Bayh and Durbin on the Democratic side are pushing to have the troops exempted, but the GOP have killed the effort... clearly because they hate the troops.

Get the 2006 ads ready because the Republicans are not only screwing us, the nation, and the American soldier, but they're screwing themselves.

From dKos:

The Senate rejected Tuesday an effort backed by Sen. Evan Bayh, D-Ind., to exempt service members from some of the tighter bankruptcy restrictions Congress is considering.
Instead, the Senate approved a Republican-backed amendment that Sen. Dick Durbin of Illinois, the No. 2 Democrat in the Senate, said is not good enough.

"Is it too much to ask to give them a break if the bottom falls out while they're serving America?" Durbin said.

...

"It's just not right (that) those who we have called upon to make the ultimate physical sacrifice -- loss of life or limb -- should also be forced to make the ultimate financial sacrifice," Bayh said.

In case you don't know, the bankruptcy bill would force you to pay back the money used to bail you out in case you have to declare. So much for the "ownership society".

Every Democrat in the country needs to repeat the mantra at every turn: "The Republicans hate the troops!" And if you know a Republican with a yellow ribbon magnet on their car, give them a talking-to. Their hollow and pathetic display of so-called "patriotism" on the ass end of their car is a lie.
