In other news, the Trump regime has banned many forms of educational and recreational travel to Cuba because Cuba is part of the Venezuelan conspiracy, or something. No more cruises to Cuba.

Meanwhile, Trump's former campaign manager Paul Manafort has been shipped to Rikers Island in New York while he faces state criminal charges.

Finally, factory shipments dropped by the most since 2017 in April according to the Commerce Department. Factory orders for March were also revised significantly downward.

Factory goods orders declined 0.8%, pulled down by soft demand for transportation equipment, computers and electronic orders, and primary metals, the Commerce Department said on Tuesday. Data for March was revised down to show factory orders increasing 1.3% instead of surging 1.9% as previously reported. [...]

Shipments of manufactured goods fell 0.5 percent in April, the largest drop since April 2017, after rising 0.2% in March. The inventories-to-shipments ratio increased to 1.37 from 1.36 in March.

Just in case anyone around the Great Lakes or in any way interested in healthy lakes and streams cares, part of the “deregulation” that is supposed to be so ‘great’, the Vessel Incidental Discharge Act, which was rammed through by the gop controlled House and Senate and signed into law in December of 2018, guts the provision of the Clean Water Act that makes shipping subject to strict requirements in terms of bringing invasive species like the Zebra Mussel into the Great Lakes via ballast water. Communities and states around the Great Lakes spend hundreds of millions of dollars a year trying to control invasive species and maintain the health of local fisheries in the face of the devastating impact of invasive species. Without control of shit ballast water, they are fighting a losing battle. Of course, the shipping industry doesn’t care about that. And apparently neither did Paul Ryan. So there’s that.
Always short term and interests that put money into their coffers. The long term health of society and the environment simply doesn’t seem to matter to these people at all.

Paul Manafort is a loathsome individual, but I agree with his lawyer: after his arraignment, send him back to his cell in Pennsylvania to await trial. Rikers Island isn’t an appropriate place for … well, much of anyone, really.

I like it as cautionary tale to anyone that decides sticking with trump rather than giving up the goods is a prudent course of action. If Manafort suffers for that I’ll continue to sleep well at night…better perhaps.

If Paul Manafort is housed at Rikers Island, he’ll need to be held in solitary confinement for his own safety, plus there will have to be additioinal security assigned to keep some random inmate from shanking him for funsies.

The taxpayers of New York shouldn’t have to pay for the consequences of Manafort’s poor decisions in life.

WHOA!!!!!… No more cruises. That’ll show em.

    Put Manafort under the prison.

All this winning is gonna put us under.
