Steve King’s 2016 Wingnut Jamboree

If this is any indication, the 2016 Republican primary contest will informally kick off with a jamboree at Steve King’s batshit conference.

All of the 2016 hopefuls have been invited to kiss Steve King’s ring and several including Ted Cruz, Rick Santorum, and Mike Huckabee have already committed to doing so.

It’ll be an event that all the nation stops and looks at,” King told The Des Moines Register in a telephone interview Monday. “What gets said and done, some of those things will be driving the conversation in the country.

The inaugural Iowa Freedom Summit will be in Des Moines on Saturday, Jan. 24, more than a year from the first-in-the-nation Iowa caucuses. King’s co-host is Citizens United, a conservative organization best known for influencing campaign finance in this country.

You know what? Steve King is right. I have no doubt the nation will stop and look at his wingnut festival and that what gets said and done there will drive the conversation.

King’s only mistake is in thinking this will be a good thing.

No good comes from Steve King.

On a more serious note, it probably shouldn’t be overstated but this could be an early indication of where the party is heading. They’re heading in the direction of secret border control agent and “man who can’t forget what he buried in that cornfield” Steve King.
