The News Cycle

In other news, the New York State Bar Association says they've begun the process of removing former New York mayor and Trump's clownshow attorney, Rudy Giuliani, from their membership rolls. They cite his incitement of the attack on the capitol and his baseless lawsuits.

Meanwhile, the U.S. recorded over 300,000 coronavirus infections on Friday which is staggering, to say the least. We've now crossed 22.5 million total infections with 375,000 deaths. We're definitely crossing 400,000 deaths before Trump is gone.

Finally, Biden has nominated the former ambassador to Moscow, William Burns, to serve as the next director of the CIA.

Burns, who speaks Arabic and Russian, was ambassador to Moscow from 2005 to 2008 and led secret talks that paved the way to the 2015 Iran nuclear deal under former Democratic President Barack Obama.

The Biden administration would be keen to revive the nuclear deal abandoned by Republican President Donald Trump and also to punish Russian President Vladimir Putin for a cyber attack on U.S. government agencies last year. The Kremlin has denied responsibility.

This seems like a smart pick if you're looking for someone who knows all the dirty tricks of our adversaries but is also capable of diffusing conflicts before they start as a former career diplomat.
