The Real Deal

In other news, the Department of Justice and the city of Baltimore have agreed to a consent decree to reform the city's police department and stop a pattern of engaging in unconstitutional behavior.

Trump's Justice Department probably won't enforce this.

Meanwhile, Mister 9/11 himself Rudy Guiliani will reportedly advise Trump on cyber security. There's a good chance Giuliani has never even used a computer.

Finally, the TSA confiscated a record-setting 3,391 guns last year and 83 percent of them were loaded. Watch for the GOP to make guns on planes mandatory. Or something.

If he had to dole out a crony position for a supporter, couldn’t he have given that one to Thiel? At least he comes from tech. Ghouliani has one foot in the grave and thinks you have to click on the big “E” to get on the Information Super Highway. And what did you do with his AOL CD? How is he ever going to get online without that?

    • Badgerite

Thiel probably wouldn’t enjoy trying to school the Orange Crisis on “the cyber”. I suspect he has better things to do. Bigger fish to fry, etc.

I forget where I read (it might have been here) that police officers overwhelmingly supported Trump. Christ!!!… that is frightening. Whenever someone says the Police in this country don’t treat minority citizens differently than White citizens that is a someone that should not be listened to anymore.

Red Shirts have long been the party of “lock ’em up” and “gungo-ho police/military.” I suppose it’s their toxic masculinity / machismo. It’s the liberals who want to hold people accountable – including the police – so it should hardly be surprising that the police “overwhelmingly” lean toward the Red Shirts.

A cop shoots an unarmed black man. Conservative response: “he probably deserved it. One less* hoodlum on the streets. Good riddance, and give that cop a medal.” Liberal response: “let’s investigate to see if it was warranted, and also if there’s a deeper systemic problem here. Let’s make sure that the police are serving the community, not terrorizing it with impunity. And if there’s an unreasonable use of force, let’s prosecute so that the community knows it’s not a double-standard.”

It’s easy to see why – by and large – they’d side with Team Red Shirt.

*Yes, I know it should be “fewer,” but conservatives don’t like that coastal elite way of talking – you know, proper grammar.

For grammatical reasons alone, I could never be a Republican.

      • Aynwrong

Or as Conservatives call it, “limited government.”
