The State of the State is Not Good

Scott Walker at GOP Convention

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker has a history of using people with questionable backgrounds as campaign props, but he may have really stepped in it this time.

During his State of the State speech last night Governor Walker promoted the story of man who was recently able to find a job as evidence that his policies are working. The trouble is Walker’s staff did absolutely no vetting of the man who appeared on stage with Walker.

Records show that he is a registered sex offender with two felonies and three drunken-driving offenses. Because of his checkered past, Barber has been in and out of jail and prison for much of the past decade, with his probation having been revoked at least twice.

This probably isn’t going to look good late next year when primary attack ad season begins. Just imagining the robocalls makes me chuckle.

Will any GOP presidential hopeful make it to the 2016 campaign without major baggage in tow?

Considering the way things have transpired lately, the better question may be will any presidential hopeful make it to 2016 without being indicted?
