Lying Liars

The Trump White House Lied About Everything, Again

Written by SK Ashby

At this point it feels redundant to point out that virtually every single person who works at the White House is a lying liar, but this is more blatant than usual.

The White House, from the vice president himself down to the official spokespersons and lizard lady Kellyanne Conway, said Trump fired FBI Director James Comey because Attorney General Jeff Session and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein recommended it, but that was a lie.

Trump himself now says he made the decision to fire Comey before asking Rosenstein to write a memo justifying it.

“I was going to fire Comey. My decision,” Trump said in an interview with NBC News’ Lester Holt. “I was going to fire Comey. There’s no good time to do it, by the way.”

Holt pointed out that in his letter of termination to Comey, Trump said he “accepted” the department’s recommendations regarding Comey’s fate.

“You had already made the decision?” Holt asked.

“Oh, I was going to fire regardless of recommendation,” Trump said. “Regardless of recommendation, I was going to fire Comey.”

It's possible Trump lied to his own staff and they merely repeated the lie, but I don't think they're owed the benefit of a doubt. It certainly appears that none of them have the dignity or self-respect to resign or admit that their initial story was a fabrication, so why not hold them equally accountable?

It's darkly comedic that Emailghazi is still being used as a pretext for acts of bad faith, and being used against people who perpetuated it in the first place.

I once wrote that Emailghazi would eventually be used against Republicans by the Trump regime if they ever tried to investigate him, but I didn't imagine it would be used against the FBI director who helped Trump win.

Everything Trump touches turns to shit and everyone who works with him is eventually humiliated.
