Healthcare

The Big Lie

There's a concept floating around among bribed officials and talkers that controlling healthcare costs will automatically make healthcare more affordable. They seriously think we're going to fall for this. Digby reports:

We know that the US already spends more on health care per capita than any other industrialized country and doesn't cover everyone. Is it really reasonable to believe that the insurance companies are going to voluntarily cut their own profits?

It's not and they won't. The only way you'll pay less for health insurance is if the government competitively forces private industry to reduce their premiums.

Likewise, mandating health insurance companies to accept customers with preexisting conditions while forcing everyone to have health insurance will only sanction the insurers to gouge those customers. The public option solves this, too.
