I finally had a chance to watch the Frontline special about Lee Atwater last night. I totally forgot how psychotic and creepy he was. If the Republicans want to know what's wrong with their party right now, they should take a good hard look at Atwater.
He's responsible for everything that's not working for Republicans anymore. Atwater-Rove politics have become obsolete, at least in the states that typically determine elections these days. But SHHH! Don't tell Sarah Palin, because she thinks they're still most-excellent. Atwater would've loved the "palling around with domestic terrorists" line.
