While I'm on the tainted food tip today, I caught this New York Times article about the meat packing industry over the weekend.
It's definitely a must-read, and since I've been casually re-reading Fast Food Nation for the last couple of weeks, the article really struck me in terms of how little has changed in the last decade.

I haven't knowingly eaten beef or pork since around mid-2000. And I'm still looking for a local source of meat from organically raised and humanely slaughtered animals. Suffice to say, it's not an easy or affordable goal. But despite it all, I still occasionally crave a Big Mac. Effing McDonalds.
