The surge escalation didn't work:
"No amount of White House spin can hide the fact that the escalation's chief objective of political reconciliation remains unmet, Iraqis have not demonstrated any readiness to stand up and take responsibility for their own country, and 2007 was the most lethal year yet for American troops," said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev.
Hmm. The Democrats must be looking at Bizarro Iraq where the surge didn't work, instead of looking at the real Iraq where the war is over and they're throwing festive candy assortments at our soldiers.
It's not often that Senator Reid makes me smile, but this is a really strong statement. I'm also glad to see he's using the "escalation" word.
