The Redskins Election Myth

If the Redskins win Monday night, you might hear Drudge and the others suggesting that it's a sign that John McCain might win.

The legend goes that if the Redskins win at home on the weekend before Election Day (or the next closest pre-election home game), the incumbant party wins the presidential election. Fact: this has been accurate since 1936.

Until 2004, that is. The Packers beat the Skins at home 28-14, and so the legend held that Senator Kerry would win.

Uh-huh. And we know how that turned out.
