Thoughts And Prayers

In other news, the NRA has quietly admitted that it accepts donations from foreign entities, a group which may or may not include Russian oligarchs. I'm sure it does.

Meanwhile, the brother of former DNC staffer Seth Rich has filed a lawsuit against a group of right wing media figures and publications, including the Washington Times, for implicating him in a conspiracy theory.

Rich's parents filed their own lawsuit last week.

Finally, the former dean of the Michigan State College of Osteopathic Medicine, who was Larry Nassar's boss, has been arrested and charged with a range of offenses. Dr. William Derkey Strampel is accused of making lewd comments to female students and soliciting lewd photos from students. He's also been charged with negligence for his actions during the 2014 investigation of Nassar.

There's also this very disturbing detail.

A forensic examination of Strampel's work computer found about 50 photographs of "bare vaginas, nude and semi-nude women, sex toys, and pornography," according to the affidavit. Police said many of the photos appeared to be "selfies" of female MSU students and that it appeared someone had tried to delete the photos. He solicited nude photos from at least one female student, the affidavit says.

"Also uncovered on Strampel's work computer were pornographic videos and a video of Dr. Larry Nassar performing 'treatment' on a young female patient," the affidavit said.

This case drew a lot of attention today, and it was discussed on ESPN's Outside The Lines, because our whole perception of the Nassar scandal may have changed.

Instead of Michigan State officials simply not taking complaints about Nassar seriously, what if they actively ignored or covered it up because they're also sick predators? Strampel was responsible for overseeing Nassar, but Strampel was keeping videos of Nassar on his computer for what appears to be personal amusement.

This story is far from over.
