Tourism Drops by $4.6 Billion Under Trump

Written by SK Ashby

The results of Trump's first year in office are in and foreign tourists aren't saying 'America First' as much as they're saying 'America Never.'

The United States has reportedly shed 40,000 jobs over the past year as spending and travel by foreign tourists has sharply declined.

via NBC News:

Travel to the U.S. has been on the decline ever since President Donald Trump took office, and new data shows the slump translates to a cost of $4.6 billion in lost spending and 40,000 jobs.

The latest data from the National Travel and Tourism Office shows a 3.3 percent drop in travel spending and a 4 percent decline in inbound travel.

The industry isn't being coy about the causes of this decline. The U.S. Travel Association is planning to launch a lobbying campaign in Washington to remind Republicans that foreign tourism is an important business, and Intrepid Travel says the Trump regime has been "the source of a lot negative media attention this year" and that the industry must stand for "open borders, inclusivity and the celebration of diversity."

A lobbying campaign isn't going to break this fever. The only thing that will is Democratic victory in November and a thorough roto-rooter of immigration services.
