When Donald Trump first announced he was unilaterally reducing the US military presence in Germany, he was seething because Angela Merkel wouldn’t commit to attending his impetuously-announced G7 summit and needed to punish her! I’m more than a bit surprised that he hasn’t (yet) called her “nasty” or given her a taunting schoolyard nickname.

As for NATO, Trump doesn’t understand what the organization is, how it’s organized or even what it does. Neither do the Red Hats, and that’s the point: he’s trying to keep the outrage machine spinning ahead of Covidpalooza this weekend.
