Ultrasound Law Signed in Virginia

Bob McDonnell signed the anti-woman bill yesterday and even though it's not invasive, it's still intended to intimidate women while also shoving Republican politicians into private medical exam rooms. You could seriously call this a government takeover of women's health -- the wrong kind of government takeover. Remember, covering the expenses for end of life counseling was bad. Forcing women to get ultrasounds is okay. Figure that one out.

The approval comes amid persistent pressure from women’s-rights demonstrators to spike the legislation, which in its original form would have required many women to undergo an ultrasound with a vaginal probe.

Once the details of the procedure were discussed publicly, McDonnell urged amendments that would still require a transabdominal ultrasound but allow a woman to reject the more invasive procedure.
