Businesses want to make sure that they are not held liable for policy decisions by government officials, should employees or customers contract COVID-19 once operations resume.

Um, just because politicians make a policy decision that business CAN re-open, doesn’t mean that they HAVE TO reopen.

Hey, business owner. If you chose (you choose) to re-open, if that presents a danger to your employees then that’s on you.

“Hey, the gov’t says I can build a house on this swamp. So when the house *I* then *choose* to build in this dangerously unstable place collapses and injures someone, I should bear utterly no responsibility for that.”

It’s just another version of “Look what you made me do!”

If you open your business you run the risk of getting infected and spreading infection. If you don’t open your business it has a good chance of imploding due to overhead costs that are now active.
