Very Serious Deficit Hawks

Posted by JM Ashby

President Obama unveiled a budget plan today that shaves $1 trillion dollars off the deficit over 10 years while still making some much needed investments in the future of the country. Republican's declared it was "not good enough" before the full plan was even revealed, and now they're saying "it would be better to do nothing". Very serious indeed.

Here is sunday school teacher I mean douchebag Representative Paul Ryan speaking today:

"It looks like to me that this thing has about $8 of tax increases for every $1 of spending cuts," said Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.), chairman of the House Budget Committee. "You really cannot borrow and spend and tax your way to prosperity, but unfortunately that's what this budget does."

..."Many people thought, ourselves included, that the president would moderate after the past elections," Ryan said. "This is not a moderate budget, this is a budget that went to the left. It would be better doing nothing than if we were to actually pass this budget."

So the president's proposal reduces the deficit by $1 trillion and invests in the future well-being of the nation, but it would actually be better if we did nothing at all? Which part is so bad for the country, the investments or the reductions?

See how serious they are?

I speak only for myself but I believe many people would agree when I say fuck you, Paul Ryan.
