Continuing my tradition of mentioning Barack Obama's cabinet picks with stuff I think is awesome; Tom Vilsack will be noimated as Secretary of Agriculture. Vilsack is a big ethanol guy, which doesn't thrill me, but it's part of his support for biofuels generally.
This is a 'vertical farm' that could be located in a city, produce most of its own power and not require water, creating an extremely local food source that lowers transportation costs. And it looks badass.
