Despite his denials, rumors and e-mails circulating on the Internet continue to allege that Obama (D-Ill.) is a Muslim, a "Muslim plant" in a conspiracy against America, and that, if elected president, he would take the oath of office using a Koran, rather than a Bible, as did Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.), the only Muslim in Congress, when he was sworn in earlier this year.
The Washington Post reported this as news -- on its front page. It's not unlike, say, Rove organizing push polls asking how South Carolinians felt about the rumors regarding Senator McCain's illegitimate black baby.
"Despite his denials," the Post wrote. If I had written that for my college newspaper years ago, our faculty advisor would've destroyed me in the post mortem because it implies guilt. Sloppy and unethical writing/editing.
