Mail Bag

Wingnut Mail Bag

From an angry senior citizen. This pretty much encapsulates the misinformation and self-contradiction of the elderly right:

I just happen to be one of those "old crazies" who is worried about being left out in the cold to suffer and die. I fully understand that Medicare and the VA, both of which I take full advantage of, ARE government supported programs. THERE IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE IN GOVERNMENT SUPPORTED AND GOVERNMENT RUN. I am very much for both programs.

What I'M NOT FOR is change in the provisions of WHO and WHAT those programs support. Don't limit MY treatment by AGE or MEDICAL CONDITION. Don't refuse treatment because I'm over 65 or because I'm diabetic. I paid a FULL share into Social Security tax and gave 4 years of my life to military service and YOUR protection. And to give you the right to write crap columns like you write. You should remember that you will one day be 65 too. And what about your parents (I've heard some people question if you have any)? You going to kill them off too.

You know as well as I do that the really crazy thing is government spending. Let the 545 in Washington be assigned the same S/S and healthcare that I am assigned, cut out their excessive spending, cut their retirement and benefits to what the rest of us have and I'll be more willing to hear about healthcare cuts. I've tried to refrain from name calling and character deformation so far, so I won't comment further.

Until then, I'll keep lustily demonstrating against socialized anything!

Sincerely,
A 67 Year Old Senior

He loves Medicare and the VA and he's against "socialized anything."

Right.

I rest my case.
