Chimp Attack

Just a brief word on this:

The chimpanzee, considered a fixture in the north Stamford community, turned into a monster on Monday afternoon, attacking a 55-year-old woman after she showed up at the home of the animal's owner, at 241 Rockrimmon Road.

"He bit both of her hands off and the cop told me he just kept eating her. It's terrible," said Lynne Mecca, a friend of the victim.

Goddamn yes, it's terrible.

However. Something should jump off the page here that ought to explain what went wrong: They were keeping a 200 pound pet chimpanzee in a house in Connecticut! If you confine a highly intelligent, non-domesticated animal with the strength of three men in a Connecticut split-level, something terrible will happen.

It's like people who shoot themselves in the leg while shoving a loaded handgun in their pants. The lack of common sense is staggering.
