Liveblogging The First Debate – Thread 3

10:07PM
New thread. Movable Type is being spazzy tonight.

10:08PM
McCain can't say Ahmadinejad. They also both said "Republican Guard" instead of "Revolutionary Guard." Offsetting penalties.

10:09PM
Whenever Drama Queen McCain is attacked, he hides behind a veteran story.

10:14PM
McCain is losing his shpadoinkle.

10:21PM
Americans from coast to coast ought to be terrified by a potential McCain presidency. The way he's throwing down on Putin isn't the temperament of a peace-keeper. It's the posturing of a war-monger.

10:23PM
McCain hasn't once made eye contact with Senator Obama. The way I was raised, that shows a huge lack of character.

10:34PM
Jamie from C&L just e-mailed me with this. Where is McCain's lapel pin? Doesn't McCain believe in the American flag?

10:55PMHad to jump away to write a quick reaction for the Huffington Post.10:57PMHey -- why didn't Senator Obama say all of the things that Andrea Mitchell wanted him to say? What's wrong with him?11:01PMAlex Castellanos thinks it's okay for McCain to have mispronounced the names of two world leaders during the debate in which McCain was supposed to rule the school.11:15PMThere's just no way this debate was a tie. Now, of course Senator Obama won't get a huge bounce -- then again, that rarely if ever happens. But this was a different Senator Obama than the one who debated Senator Clinton. Senator Obama was smart -- not just on the issues, but on the strategy -- the ebb and flow of the debate. He knew when to stick and move and jab. This was clearly an Obama win.11:25PMSoledad O'Brien and a focus group coming up on CNN. Oh boy! A completely pointless exercise!11:29PMCNN "phone" poll.Who won... Obama 51%, McCain 38%.Who would better handle Iraq: Obama 52%, McCain 47%.Economy: Obama 58%, McCain 37%.11:36PMJohn McCain thinks Iraq is funny.11:37PMCBS poll of uncommitted voters:

Forty percent of uncommitted voters who watched the debate tonight thought Barack Obama was the winner. Twenty-two percent thought John McCain won. Thirty-eight percent saw it as a draw.

11:43PM61 percent of Soledad's focus group said Obama won the night.11:51PMSeriously, can someone tell me why Gloria Borger is on television talking about politics?MIDNIGHTThat's it for me tonight. Be sure to vote in all of these polls.
