When some of my otherwise smart friends were freaking out in the days and week after Sarah Palin's acceptance speech at the RNC, I enjoined them to calm down, that not only was Senator Obama the smartest, most humanist person to run for president in living memory, but that Mrs. Palin's popularity would fall faster than Lindsay Lohan's.
And as much as it pains me to say this, I was right. From the NBC/WSJ poll, via TPM and AmericaBlog:
Now, Palin's qualifications to be president rank as voters' top concern about McCain's candidacy -- ahead of continuing President Bush's policies, enacting economic policies that only benefit the rich and keeping too high of a troop presence in Iraq.
