GOP Congressman: Actually, ISIS is Good

Written by SK Ashby

Congressman and president of the Putin fanclub, Representative Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA), is delighted that ISIS carried out an attack on civilians at the Iranian parliament building.

While entertaining the idea that the attack in Iran was supported by other actors in the region, Rohrabacher floated the idea of supporting them.

ROHRABACHER: “We have recently seen an attack on Iran, and the Iranian government, the mullahs, believe that Sunni forces have attacked them. This may signal a ratcheting up of certain commitments by the United States of America. As far as I’m concerned, I just want to make this point and see what you think, isn’t it a good thing for us to have the United States finally backing up Sunnis who will attack Hezbollah and the Shiite threat to us? Isn’t that a good thing? And if so, maybe this is a Trump — maybe it’s a Trump strategy of actually supporting one group against another, considering that you have two terrorist organizations.”

You know, virtually every Republican you can stick in front of a camera has been seeing ISIS in their soup for years. They said ISIS was crossing our southern border. They said ISIS was spreading Ebola. They've attributed random attacks to ISIS in cases where there was very little if any connection.

But if Trump actually called for supporting ISIS, I think most congressional Republicans and certainly every conservative pundit and tv show host would fall in line and start supporting ISIS overnight.

The only way Trump could lose their support is by doing something truly radical like call for new taxes on the rich.

All kidding aside, ISIS has engaged in ethnic cleansing. They've raped, murdered, plundered, and oppressed scores of people. They've beheaded hundreds. They've executed gays. They've sold women and children into sex slavery. Representative Dana Rohrabacher (R) apparently believes we should support that if they're willing to attack Iran, a nation that hasn't attacked us.
