Arnold, Tommy Thompson, Bloomberg, Bill Frist. They're all embracing the Baucus Plan. And it's not difficult to ascertain why.
Of course the Baucus Plan calls for an unprecedented subsidy for the health insurance industry, and only a very weak public insurance plan. If I was a pro-corporate Republican with, perhaps, some financial skin in the game, I'd love the Baucus bill, too.
I'm actually shocked that more Republicans aren't cozying up to this thing. Then again, to paraphrase Jon Stewart from the other night: the Republicans hate President Obama more than they love anything else, including corporations, corporate welfare and their personal financial statements.
