Stephen and Tabitha King Throw In For Sanity

A Coalition For A Safer Maine has reported that author Stephen King and his wife Tabitha have made an unspecified, though “sizable financial donation” to the group which works to curb gun violence in America.

Arguing for better regulation of the flow of guns in the state of Maine and across the country, Mr. King confirmed the contribution this past week to The Bangor Daily News, saying:

“Yes, I can confirm the donation,” Stephen King, a gun owner, wrote in an email to the Bangor Daily News. “I don’t want to give the amount, but as I’ve already said, it was in the five-figure range.”

“I’d like to see stricter controls on the sale of high-powered automatic and semiautomatic weapons, if not on the federal level — where elected representatives have proved reluctant to take any action, in spite of public pressure — then at the state level,” King wrote. “As a gun owner, I support the Second Amendment. What I don’t support are unregulated sales which make it easier for these weapons to fall into the hands of mentally unstable people and those who are considering acts of terror. We can’t solve the problem, but a few rational controls would be a first step. Let’s try to keep these guns out of the hands of people who might use them to kill the innocent and unsuspecting. All I’m saying.”

King, a gun owner, wrote an essay last month published by Maine’s Bangor Daily News explaining his support for sane gun regulation.

Someone tell the cultists at the NRA so they can start organizing the mass book burning/2nd Amendment rally at once.
