Libya

War, Obama Style

This Sullivan reader sums up why I'm not overly panicked about Libya -- beyond the fiscal hypocrisy:

It seems to me that Obama's handling of it is as deliberate and "cool" as anything else he does. He waited until he was ready, until it was obvious that the uprising needed help, then he acted. And yes, he went to Brazil. It's his job!

Also, it's worth noting that we're not pre-empting anything. Nothing is illegal about the action. And it's not unilateral. Similarities to Iraq barely exist -- if at all. As long as this remains limited and fast, and the Republican war hawks shut the fuck up and stop screeching about how we need to slash and burn spending on the American people, I think I'll give this one a few weeks. That last one is a big if, by the way, and I'm not holding my breath.
